    Not a fan. Do not follow the directions. ... Not a fan. Do not follow the directions. 6 weeks is way, way too long. Wished I would have tested after 1 week. Ruined a 5 gallon carboy of wine. My fault for not checking sooner. Will go back to chips. 2Five Stars Works well. 5So much easier than barrel aging!!! Great value, great size for using in home brew set up, easy to use, easy to retrieve from bucket, easy to soak in bourbon for that "bourbon barrel aged" taste without having to take up valuable space! So awesome. Took about three weeks in secondary for a 5 gallon batch to really get the oak coming through on the nose. We will be buying these again for sure. These french of spirals are the best. I use one stick per 3 gallon glass carboy at a time to enhance the oaky undertones and to add complexity to my homemade wine. I find that 3-4 weeks is the perfect balance of flavor and is my personal preference. I would recommend tasting daily after week 3 to find your preference.
