I've tried both this and the Cooper Wiring Devices 145-BOX Rubber Pigtail Lamp Holder with Box, Medium Base. This Pass & Seymour unit is well made but its collar around the base of the lamp is not as high as that on the Cooper and does not seal around the base of the bulb as well as I'd like. I'm sticking with the Cooper product. 4I Like This I'm using this for an outdoor light - it works perfectly. 5Great for your construction site As expected, and works perfectly... 5You light up my life Great quality, outdoor replacement for a 40 year old porch light. Works great, it is weatherproof and seals the bulb to the center so no moisture gets in. Hence extending the life of the socket and bulb. 5Five Stars very well made 5This is the best one of these rubber lamp holders available I have basically bought every brand of these to find the best one. I started with the Leviton version but found the hot tab at the bottom to be a terrible design. If you plug in a lamp with a longer center contact it can bend the tab down too far to work on other lamps. This Pass & Seymour has a much better design and should last indefinitely.I was looking to use this to panel mount a lamp and didn t want to use a 2 piece porcelain fixture or a large keyless. I wasn t sure how this would work but with a 1-1/2 hole in 1/16 sheet metal, this can be worked in down to the lip where the Rubber compresses and holds the fixture tight. It won t pull out or turn and when a lamp is screwed in, the rubber makes contact and helps to hold it secure. I just bought 2 more for another project! 5
