catches hair and stays in place
This strainer works so well, that I purchase one of these every time a place I'm staying has an uncovered shower drain! It stays firmly in place by using bendable tabs that hold it onto the inside of the drain opening. The holes are the right size to let water through but not hair.Note that it is also available in a 1 7/8" size for larger drains. Also, if you get one with a blue rubber coating and would rather have plain stainless steel, note that the coating comes off by itself after a few showers.
5Do not buy - smaller than expected - money down the drain
This is too small for a Kohler 1-5/8" bath tub. It fell right in and I had to fish it out of the hole to return for a refund. Do not buy this product. It will be money down the drain.
1Perfectly adequate
It fit my shower drain and works. It's not a great fit, but it doesn't fall in so that's good.
4Cheap fix
It fit exactly and works perfectly. Makes my laundry room sink much less of a hassle to keep clean. I love a cheap fix!
5Five Stars
It wasn't the right size for my drain :(
5A thinner replacement for the real thing.
This was actually quite hard to find locally, so I purchased this one from amazon. It's ok, kind of flimsy, not as solid as the original. The three prongs need to be bent outward to fit your drain. It's a generic, so don't expect it to fit perfect. I wish it were more rigid, however it will do for now.
4Don't buy this
My 1970's Kohler tub has a drain hole exactly 1 5/8. This strainer wants to fall into it. The metal is also really thin-1/32" or slightly thinner. It will bend and will fall in, then. I suspect there was another body with a flange that this piece fits into. This by itself has no support. Therefore, this is greatly over-priced.
1Perfect for 1-5/8" drain openings
My bathtub drain is exactly 1-5/8" inch and this fits in perfectly, just bend two or three of the tabs outward just a bit and it pops in and stays put. So much better than those strainers that sit over top of the drains.
5Five Stars
It works and stays in place securely.
5Two Stars
Very cheaply made. These should cost less than a dollar for sure.
